Sodium bicarbonate is a versatile mineral ingredient used in cosmetic and domestic formulations. It is Ecological, natural and non-toxic. Known to react with acids to release carbon dioxide, it is ideal for effervescent products such as bath bombs. In cosmetics, it is primarily used as an alkaline pH adjuster to correct overly acidic formulations, helping to stabilize products such as creams, gels, and cleansers. It also acts as a mild abrasive, supporting cleansing and polishing effects in applications such as toothpastes and gentle exfoliating products. Thanks to its odor-neutralizing capacity, it is commonly incorporated into deodorants and foot care formulations. Additionally, it provides light antibacterial properties. Sodium bicarbonate is widely used in bath products, oral care products (toothpastes, mouthwashes, whitening treatments), and deodorants. While effective and easy to formulate with, its alkaline nature requires careful use, as high concentrations or frequent application may cause irritation, especially on sensitive skin.
