White clay, or kaolin, has been used for centuries in Asia and Europe for its purifying, soothing, and absorbent properties. Its name comes from the Chinese town of Kao-Ling, meaning “land of high hills.” Rich in essential minerals such as magnesium, silicon, alumina, zinc, calcium, and selenium, it has a gentle pH, perfectly suited to rebalance and protect the skin. Thanks to its fine, light texture, white clay is ideal for preparing facial and body masks, purifying and cleansing treatments, as well as products for sensitive or delicate skin. It absorbs impurities and excess sebum without irritation, leaving the skin soft and soothed. Traditionally, it has also been used in scrubs, cleansing powders, compresses, and poultices to relieve irritations and skin inflammation. Its gentle and natural action makes it a preferred choice for DIY skincare and cosmetic preparations designed for sensitive skin.
