Java Citronella Essential Oil (Cymbopogon winterianus) is appreciated for its fresh, lemony, and slightly herbal aroma. Obtained by distillation of the aerial parts of the plant, it brings a lively and refreshing note to many cosmetic and wellness preparations. Traditionally used for its repellent properties, it is particularly recognized as a natural mosquito repellent. Rich in citronellal and geraniol, two key aromatic compounds, it helps keep insects away and is often used to soothe and calm mosquito bites. Citronellal is especially known for its effectiveness as a mosquito repellent. When diffused, it is ideal for summer evenings to create a fresh atmosphere while helping keep insects away. Its lemony and refreshing scent also brings a feeling of relaxation and comfort, promoting a calming environment.
Maximum concentrations (IFRA)
Not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and in children under 6 years old. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Keep out of reach of children. If used orally, consult a healthcare professional in case of hormone-dependent conditions, family history of such conditions, or kidney insufficiency. Some natural compounds in this essential oil may pose an allergy risk in sensitive individuals when incorporated into a cosmetic formulation. Old or oxidized essential oils should be avoided. Store well away from light and air. As a general rule, always perform a patch test of your preparation on the inner elbow at least 48 hours before use.
